The smart lock entry provides easy and secure access to the studio, giving you peace of mind during your stay. As you step inside, you'll be greeted by lots of natural light streaming in through the many windows, creating a warm and inviting ambiance. All windows and doors have coverings for when you need privacy, including blackout roll-up shades on most windows and light-filtering curtains in the living room area. The bed area features both a blackout roll up shade and velvet-style curtains, ensuring a good night’s rest. For added comfort, we've included a luxury pillow top mattress in our bed area for a restful night’s slumber. Our sleeper sofa is queen-sized too, providing more room to snuggle up in vs the average full. Both mattresses are wrapped in protective coverings to ensure optimal cleanliness. Two ceiling fans and a bedside table-top fan have been provided to keep you cool during the warmer months and provide some ambient noise at night for those light sleepers. The remote-controlled, ceiling-mounted mini-split system provides top-down heating and cooling, ensuring you stay comfortable no matter the season. Entertainment is made easy with a 55" smart TV, articulating (tilt, swivel and extend) tv wall mount, and free wifi, perfect for streaming your favorite shows and movies in the living area or from the comfort of our luxe bed. The full kitchen is equipped with everything you need to whip up a delicious meal, including a microwave for quick and easy cooking. Other amenities include a full-size refrigerator, a dual drip + Keurig-style coffee machine for that morning cup of joe, and a kettle for tea enthusiasts. Step outside to the side patio with views of nature, the historic cemetery and a cute neighboring church. For your enjoyment, we have provided a charcoal BBQ and bench; a perfect setup for conversations with a companion while you grill your feast beneath the Florida sunshine. At night enjoy the magical ambiance of our professionally installed lightbulb-string lighting that zigzags across the side and back of the property, providing a warm glow both outside and inside via our side and back windows. Indulge in the natural beauty of our property, located just across from the historic Evergreen cemetery. Explore the walkable paths of Evergreen’s grounds and admire the winding creek with its playful turtles and the tranquility of the sweet pond + fountain. In the spring, the blooming azaleas create a breathtaking sight, while the majestic oaks draped with Spanish moss can be admired from our large windows. During the day, you can delight in watching beautiful birds, and at night, the soothing sounds of rhythmically-tuned frogs create a serene ambiance. It's a nature lover's paradise right at your doorstep. In fact, it is the unique and delightful birds that frequent Evergreen and our property that served as the inspiration for our charming destination: “The St Augie Aviary” and our studio, “The Flamingo”. See more info on Evergreen Cemetery below. “The Hummingbird" (the adjacent 2-bedroom house separated from “The Flamingo” by a laundry room) can also be rented for larger groups or extended families. See our combined listing for “ The St. Augie Aviary.” *** "The Flamingo" and "The Hummingbird" are separated by a laundry room/storage space, but have no shared walls. The laundry room is a shared facility of both units. For reference of the setup, there is a photo in the listing that was taken from inside the entry room which shows the main entry door and the two doors of each separate unit. ***

Other Details to Note

Historic Evergreen Cemetery A twenty-seven acre historical cemetery with a winding creek full of turtles, a pond and a fountain, which attracts a host of beautiful birds. The azaleas blooming in Spring are breathtaking. Large oaks dripping with Spanish moss give this peaceful spot Southern charm. Established in 1886 outside the city limits when St. Augustine closed its small urban graveyards due to overcrowding. Evergreen became the region's largest Protestant cemetery of the late 1800s and early 1900s. The design was strongly influenced by America's Rural Cemetery Movement stressing that burying and commemorating the dead was best done in a tranquil, natural landscape set apart from urban life. These principals are reflected in Evergreen's garden setting and its winding roads and pathways. Many styles of funerary embellishments popular during the period are evidenced in large monuments, elegant statuary, ornamental plantings and formal landscaping. Grave marker iconography includes reclining lambs, praying angels, broken columns, Celtic crosses, flower motifs, Woodmen of the World "trees" and monuments featuring classical revival designs and shapes. Evergreen is the final resting place of Randolph Caldecott (1846-1886), considered the originator of children's picture books and after whom the national Caldecott Medal for distinguished children's picture book is named; and Heath Canfield (1849-1913), winner of the Congressional Medal. Castillo de San Marcos This national monument is often considered the crown jewel in the oldest city in America. Built by the Spanish in St. Augustine to defend Florida and the Atlantic trade route, Castillo de San Marcos National Monument preserves the oldest masonry fortification in the continental United States and interprets more than 450 years of cultural intersections. Ponce de Leon's Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park Though some travelers found the attraction to be lackluster and not worth the entrance fee, most said it's an important archeological site worth checking out. Must-do components of the park include drinking from the Fountain of Youth and watching a cannon firing demonstration. Colonial Quarter Located on St. George Street in downtown St. Augustine's historic district, the Colonial Quarter offers visitors a glimpse into the lives of 16th-, 17th- and 18th-century residents. The living museum is divided into four areas: the 16th Century Spanish First City, the 17th Century Spanish Fortified Town, the 18th Century Spanish Garrison Town and the 18th Century British The 14th Colony. Vilano Beach (Local's Fave) A quiet coastal community, Vilano Beach is known for its sandy Atlantic shoreline and a fishing pier stretching into the Tolomato River. Casual beach grills, pizza places, and a marina surround the pier, which is marked by the Bluebird of Happiness, a restored vintage statue. The Vilano Beach Nature Boardwalk, running through wetlands near the Francis and Mary Usina Bridge, features mosaic art of local wildlife. St. Augustine Beach (Tourist's Fave) Situated 5 miles southeast of St. Augustine's historic district, St. Augustine Beach features roughly 2 miles of white-sand beach and clear water. The beach is popular with families, thanks to its kid-friendly splash pad. If fishing or a relaxing stroll is what you're after, visit the St. Johns County Ocean and Fishing Pier, which sits at the north end of the beach. St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park Animal lovers of all ages will enjoy a visit to the St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park. While here, visitors can explore the exhibits on their own and enjoy interactive wildlife shows and animal feedings, which are offered throughout the day. For an extra thrilling experience, be sure to pay a visit to Crocodile Crossing, a 7-acre, 35-foot-tall zip line course that soars over alligators and crocodiles. Villa Zorayda Museum A millionaire hardware merchant from Boston modeled his winter home in St. Augustine on the Alhambra, a 35-acre palace in Spain built over 1,000 years ago. Built in 1883 from a mixture of coquina and concrete, the Moorish-style house is an ornate tribute to what money can buy, with a three-story tower and a two-story interior atrium ringed by horseshoe arches. The house is now a museum that houses eccentric antiques, including the Sacred Cat Rug, which is reportedly 2,400 years old and woven from Egyptian cat hair. ACCORD Freedom Trail One of St. Augustine’s most historically significant neighborhoods is known for its role in the Civil Rights movement. Lincolnville, founded by freedmen after the Civil War, was a nexus for activism in the 1960s, when Black residents risked their lives to desegregate local businesses, staged sit-ins and protests, and played a vital role in the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. visited St. Augustine several times, and was arrested here when participating in a protest at a segregated restaurant. Visit the ACCORD Freedom Trail website to find a self-guided tour and detailed descriptions of 31 historical sites marked with interpretive plaques.
